Greatest Songs of All Time

The American magazine, Rolling Stones, edited and published by Jann Wenner, has been covering the world of music since its inception in 1967. Titled after the Muddy Water song “Rollin’ Stone” from the 1950s, the magazine had a clear mandate: “[it] is not just about the music, but about the things and attitudes that music embraces.” Given their expertise, the editors of Rolling Stones got together and developed their list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time” and published it as a special issue on December 9, 2004.

According to Rolling Stones, the top ten greatest songs of all time are:

1. Like a Rolling Stone – Bob Dylan
2. (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction – Rolling Stones
3. Imagine – John Lennnon
4. What’s Going On – Marvin Gaye
5. Respect – Aretha Franklin
6. Good Vibrations – Beach Boys
7. Johnny B. Goode – Chuck Berry
8. Hey Jude – Beatles
9. Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana
10. What’d I Say – Ray Charles
