Books That Everyone Should Read: Bill Gates

atkins-bookshelf-booksOutside of being one of the richest persons in the world, Bill Gates is passionately curious about the world around him. Not surprisingly, he loves to read books from a wide range of topics. On his blog, gatenotes, he explains that the books he favors are ones that “[make] me think in new ways, and kept me up reading long past when I should have gone to sleep.”

Here are five books that Bill Gates believes everyone should read to get a better understanding the human race, its habitat, and history (two of the books, by Goodwin and Kolbert, have won the Pulitzer Prize):

Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari

How Not to be Wrong: The Power of Mathematical Thinking by Jordan Eilenberg

The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism by Doris Kearns Goodwin

Eradication by Nancy Leys Stepan

The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History by Elizabeth Kolbert
