What is the Toughest Job in the World?

atkins-bookshelf-cultureRehtom, Inc. recently posted an open position for a Director of Operations. The job requirements are daunting, to say the least:
1. The employee should have a degree in medicine, finance, and culinary arts.
2. The job requires a high degree of stamina, because he or she will be standing up most of the time, constantly bending over, and constantly exerting themselves.
3. The employee is allowed to have lunch, but only after his or her associates have completed their lunch.
4. The position requires the employee to work 365 days, without weekends off, and no vacation.
5. If you had a life, the company would ask you to give that up.
6. The job is not just any job, it is one of the most important job in the world.
7. Because the job is rewarding in itself, there is no pay.

Despite the demanding requirements, bordering on inhumane or ridiculous — or both — 24 individual actually responded to the classified and went through the interview via webcam. There responses ranged from incredulity to shock: “That’s a lot!” “That’s almost cruel!” “That’s almost a very, very sick, twisted joke.”

At the end of the interview, the company representative asks the job candidates: “What if I told you that there’s actually someone that holds this position right now? Billions of people, actually?” The job seekers are dumbfounded, eagerly waiting for an answer.  The representative breaks out in a warm grin, and answers: “Moms.” The video fades to black with a simple message: “This Mother’s Day, you might want to make her a card.” Bookshelf honors selfless and loving mothers throughout the world who not only have the toughest job in the world, but arguably the most important job in the world.
